Monroe Police are seeking tips to help understand how a motorcyclist ended up being struck and killed on State Route 2 on Friday, Sept. 7.

A 38-year-old Snohomish man was in the eastbound lane on a motorcycle described as not being street legal when a Ford Bronco in the same lane collided with the motorcycle between Frylands Boulevard and 179th Avenue Southeast around 9:30 p.m., according to a news release.

The 18-year-old Monroe man driving the Bronco was uninjured, the release states, but the vehicle was towed from the scene. The motorcyclist was reported not wearing a helmet, and was deceased at the scene.

State Route 2 was closed in both directions for five hours during the investigation.

The MPD is seeking witnesses that may have seen the collision or the motorcycle prior to the collision as part of the investigation. The release notes the weather conditions at the time were dark and wet. There was no indication as to whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.

The tip line is 360-863-6300.
