Road closure Saturday for Tri-Monroe event

The section of Fryelands Boulevard between Currie Road Southeast and Tye Street Southeast will be closed 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, to accommodate the Tri-Monroe triathlon at Lake Tye Park.

Detour signs will be posted advising travelers as to alternate routes.

TriMonroe is an elite cup racing event for youth age 13GÇô19 that includes a swim in Lake Tye, one or two laps around Lake Tye's 1.6-mile pathway and a bike ride that extends down Fryelands Boulevard. The race is organized by Total Health Events, in conjunction with the Snohomish County Sports Council, the city of Monroe, USA Triathlon National and USA Triathlon GÇô Pacific Northwest Region.

TriMonroe is one of four national-level youth elite and junior elite racing opportunities in the United States taking place in 2016. This year's event features an amateur aquathlon, which includes a 750-meter swim and a 2.5-kilometer run around Lake Tye.
