Rhen Shore, a student at Monroe High School was selected as one of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) Athlete of the Week. Rhen was nominated by his coach and selected for his achievements in basketball.
Each week during the school year, the WIAA names 12 varsity athletes, a male and a female from each of the six classifications as athlete of the week. The award is given to student athletes who exhibit an outstanding performance for the previous week, according to a press release.
Shore averaged 16 points, five assists, four steals and two blocks per game in the Bellevue College three-game tournament last week. He was also named to the all-tournament team.
Each student Athlete of the Week receives a congratulatory letter from WIAA Executive Director Mike Colbrese, a commemorative WIAA Athlete of the Week t-shirt and a certificate.
