Celebrate the New Year at the first annual Monroe Polar Plunge and 5k Fun Run, while bringing awareness and funding to Seattle Children's Hospital and the Sky Valley Food Bank.
The run will begin at Lake Tye on Fryelands Boulevard at 11 a.m. January 1; signups begin at 9:30 a.m.
Spectators are welcome to bring a lawn chair to watch the excitement while curled up in front of a fire for post-run stories, food and beverages. Dogs are welcome to attend.
The cost for the run/plunge is $35 per person, which includes hot food and beverages, to PLUNGE. The cost for spectators is $50; and still includes hot food and beverages.
The first 100 to sign up will receive a free t- shirt. Additional Polar Plunge t-shirts will be for sale the day of the Plunge for $20.
Prizes will be awarded for the group with most participants; best costumed group; best costumed individual and best dog costume.
Plungers should be sure to bring a towel and a change of warm clothes!
