Sultan High a STEM Lighthouse school; state superintendent to visit March 18

Sultan High School has been selected as one of five schools across the state to serve others as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) mentor.

The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction reports these STEM Lighthouse Schools recently awarded $20,000 grants to develop and promote STEM, including providing technical assistance and advice for other schools creating their own STEM programs.

"Lighthouse schools represent the entire state,GÇ¥ said State Superintendent Randy Dorn in a news release. "They are located in large and small districts, in the east and in the west, and with many different demographics. And that helps them serve as leaders and examples of what can happen with STEM education.GÇ¥

Dorn will be at Sultan High School to talk about STEM 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 18.
