Sultan scores a high-flying 40-28 victory over South Whidbey

"AirGÇ¥ South Whidbey flew into Sultan, packing their "Hurry UpGÇ¥ offense, and was met by the Turk "Ground ForcesGÇ¥ to produce a fascinating high school football game.
The Turks took the opening kickoff and scored within three plays with a 38-yard sprint by Cooper Beucherie. The Falcons took the next kickoff and threw eight straight passes, scoring on the last to tie the game at 7.
This set the pattern for the first half, with Turks scoring on the ground and the Falcons scoring in the air.-áIn the closing minutes of the first half the Turk defense gelled with a sack on the Falcon quarterback, and-ábatting the ball back into the face of the Falcon passer on the next, to take a 28 - 21 lead at the break.
Head Coach Ben Murphy-ágave his Turks a defense lecture at the break, after which the Turks swarmed the Falcons, forcing them to use quick punts by the quarterback and continuing with their quick, no-huddle offense.
The Turks continued to grind out the points on the ground. Beucherie tallied-á31 carries for 235 yards and two touchdowns.-áTeammate Antonio Rivas added-á213 yards on 13 carries-áand two touchdowns.
Turks James MacKenzie and Steve-á"BubbaGÇ¥ Branham also scored for the home side.
In a pre-game ceremony the Senior-áTurk players and cheer squad members were honored. They included Dustin Lindaho, James Kern, Jacob Vernell, Cooper Beucherie, Taylor Comfort, Cole Honold, Tom Carter,-áKyle-áKash, Bubba Branham, Antonio Rivas, Jessica Hopkins, Ryan Sharp, Jaydon Rosseau, Skylar Funderburk, Alyssa Lawing, Felicia Anderson, Giovanni Williams and Miguel-áCerna, the Senior Class of 2014.
The Turks stand 4-2 and 4-4 on the season.
