By Ruth Tess, Contributing Writer As the fall season comes to an end, most of our fall sports end, along with our one peculiar club: marching band.
The marching band has one last competition before saying goodbye to the beloved "Space AdventureGÇ¥ themed performance. Although having struggled in the beginning of the season, they received their highest score so far, with a 68.8 at Silverdale on Saturday.
The whole band, along with Mrs. Sumpter, has put much effort into this season, but all of this would not be possible without the working force behind the scene. The band parents work together to coordinate clothing, help with instruments, cook, and do much more. Although they have kids to raise and jobs to do, they take time out of their schedules to come support the band.
The marching band will have one last competition in Auburn, and then the musical department will start to shift towards working on their musical.
The girls' soccer team has advanced to the District games. Although they only have two seniors, and three injuries among their starters, they have been very successful in their season. So far, they have had six wins and eight losses.
Our exchange student was also able to be a part of the soccer action. Victoria Siedl has scored multiple goals throughout the season.
This is the first time in ten years that the girls' team has moved on to Districts. It has also the first time in ten years that they have beaten Cedarcrest, with a score of 2 - 0. Due to their success, they were granted the home field advantage against Mt. Baker on Oct. 27.
Since the school has been moved into the 1A school category, there are a new set of district opponents. We hope that the Lady Turks can finish off strong, GO TURKS!
Our last football game will be held on October 30. It is Senior Night, and Pink Out, so please show up to support breast cancer awareness and our senior football players.
Other upcoming events are the Fall Concert that will be on November 2 in the commons of Sultan High School. There will be multiple choirs, and the band will perform, including marching band.
There will be a blood drive on November 3-áfor which you can sign up at the office, or call 360-793-9860 to schedule.
