Saturday was a big day for the Sultan Turks. After three months of rehearsal, the cast of the musical finally performed Grease for the very last time. At the end, the cast was able to have a small gathering as they ate the concession foods and listened to some music. Many left with teary eyes as they reflected on their three months together. If you were able to come support our musical department, thank you, and we hope you enjoyed the play.
The Sultan Turk wrestlers finished the state tournament in seventh place as a team, along with seven individual medalists. In the 1A division, Jamell Carroll placed third, Cory Martinez places third, David Woo placed fourth, James Mackenzie placed fourth, Morgan Yates placed sixth, Matt Baller placed eighth and Brandon Webb placed eighth. Also, Dan Belcher received an award for "Middle School Coach of the Year.GÇ¥ Brandon Webb and Nicholas Sorgen were named Academic State Champions this year, for being great examples of student athletes with good grades.
The varsity boys basketball team had their last game of the season at Mountlake Terrace High School. They lost 60 to 53 against Overlake and didn't advance in the regional competition. By that point of the bi-districts, they were the only team from a public school among all of the teams in their division.
During the past week, the Sultan High School (SHS) commons area got a new look, thanks to the lunch program. It cleaned the commons, and expanded to another side of the room, where the coffee grinder used to be, allowing students to get lunch more conveniently. The school also expanded its meal choices, added more snacks and purchased a slushy and popcorn machine for the store.

There will be an informational meeting on Friday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. in the gym for all students interested in cheer. Get your questions answered and pick up your tryout packet.
The Winter Sports Awards night will be on March 3, at 7 p.m. in the SHS Commons. Come and celebrate the achievements of our winter sports athletes.
There is a NHS meeting this Thursday morning in Ms. Robbins' room at 7 a.m. and there will be a GSA meeting this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in Ms. Robbins' room, No. 203.
Students must complete their paperwork by Feb. 27 to be eligible for the first day of track. Also, if you are concerned about avoiding shin splints or other overuse injuries, see Coach Hubbard.
