Tacoma Opera hosting 2021-22 season kickoff reception

Tacoma Opera's 2021-22 season will kick off with a reception and live opera performance from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Pacific Bonsai Museum, 2515 S. 336th St., Federal Way. The evening will include drinks, hors d'oeuvres and performancese from Puccini's “Madame Butterfly.” Guests will also be able to stroll through the museum's World War Bonsai Exhibit: Remembrance & Resilience.

Tickets to the event, which cost $125, will also include one ticket to see Tacoma Opera's upcoming fall 2021 online performances of Bon Appetit and A Water Bird Talk, Nov. 6 and Nov. 7.

Guests will also get to see a small performance from a new opera that will be presented in the 2022-23 season: “The Tacoma Method,” by Gregory Youtz and Zhang Er. The opera tells the true story of the Chinese expulsion from Tacoma in 1885, according to the press release. Youtz will also give a small talk.
