Workshop to teach people to recognize, avoid scams

Pierce County Aging and Disability Resources is sponsoring a free online workshop, “An Ounce of Prevention: A Positive Approach to Scams,” to help people recognize and prevent scams. Participants will learn about the most common scams and how to recover from them, in addition to tips and tools for avoiding them in the first place.

The workshop will be presented by Lyn Peters, director of communications, financial education and outreach for the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions. Participants of all ages are welcome, but advanced registration is required either online or by calling the ADRC at 253-798-4600.
