Editor,
I’m a conservative leaning voter, always anxious to see some real change in our Washington communities around election season. This fall, I’m focusing on the Eatonville School Board District 2 position. This race is especially important today, given the current issues we face as a district. While both candidates would bring their own unique perspectives to the board, I am supporting Sarah Cole.
I’ve served with Sarah on the Eatonville Area Council Board of Directors since she was voted on in 2016. She has always offered thoughtful insight and proved to be a team player while working for the greater good of our town. In 2020, she and I promoted a local Republican candidate for State Senate — hosting meet and greets, dinners and even a question-and-answer session comprised almost fully of local Democrats.
While Sarah’s political leanings may be slightly left of my own, her core values are perfectly aligned: Her concerns are my concerns. She values our community’s children as if they were her own children. She has already spent years leading our community, listening to and supporting both Democrat and Republican (and all of us in the middle). I have no doubt she would hold our community’s, and especially our children’s needs with the highest regard.
I believe Sarah Cole would represent all of us on the Eatonville School Board.
Emmy Lay
President, Eatonville Area Council Board of Directors
