The Cruiser track and field team kicked off its 2022 campaign this past Thursday with a meet against five other schools at Rainier High School. The girls placed second overall, while the boys finished fourth.
The Cruisers girls had three athletes capture the top spot on the podium at the end of the day.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Emily Bennett scored a personal best time of 56 seconds and took first place. Ryan Stammen captured the top spot with a throw of 86-feet, 5-inches in the javelin, and Alex Lambert jumped 7 feet in the pole vault to take first place.
Cruisers who finished in the top 3 on the day were:
Hannah Hansen: second in the 100 meters and 200 meters
Hannah Kralick: second in the 800 meters
Haley Courson: second in the 1600 meters and 3200 meters
Tianna Lewis: second in the high jump
Hannah Kralik: second in pole vault
Ella Gendreau: third in the 100 meters
Emily Bennett: third in the 100-meter hurdles
Rylee Valentine: third in the discus
Boys:
Jake Wood: second in the javelin
Ben Morrish: second in the 3200 meters
Kyle Cox: second in the shot put, third in the discus
Joseph Mueller: third in the 1600 meters.
Vincent Marcelynas: third in the 110-meter hurdles
Tristan Lewis: third in the shot put
Ethan Carter: third in the pole vault
The Cruisers finished up the week by attending the annual Icebreaker Invitational Meet at Rainier High School.
The boy's team finished sixth place out of 19 teams, while the girls captured a 12th-place finish out of 19 teams.

Austin Wicker: second place in the 400 meters
Antonio Accarino/Ky Nation/Cole Bamford/Justus Roulst: second in the 4x100-meter relay
Jake Wood: second place in the javelin
Justus Roulst: second place in the high jump
