Lady Cruisers sink Pirates, 23-0

The Lady Cruiser softball team continued to show their dominance at the plate and in the field this past Friday afternoon when they shut out the Vashon Pirates, 23-0, in another mercy rule-shortened five-inning game.

Pitchers Berkeley Porter and Sara Smith combined to shut out the Pirates, only allowing one hit on the day while striking out six Vashon batters.

At the plate, Dakota Smith and her younger sister, Charlie, led the Cruisers. Dakota went 2-3 with a home run, five RBIs and scored three runs, while Charlie went 1-2 at the plate with a home run, as well, driving in five runs, scoring three and swiping a base. Senior Grace Bamford drove in three Cruiser runs on the day, going 1-3 at the plate and scoring two runs.

After traveling to Elma to play a double-header against the Elma Eagles on Tuesday of this week, the Cruisers will finish off the week hosting the Elma Eagles Thursday to finish off their three-game set. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
