Cruisers post strong finishes at Kalama track meet

On Thursday of last week, the Eatonville Cruiser boys and girls track teams had strong finishes at a league meet at Kalama High School.

The girls team came away with the overall victory while the boys fell one point short to the Mossyrock Vikings, 85-84.

Standing atop the podium with first-place finishes for the Cruisers were:

J. Roulst, H. Hanson, N. King, E. Gendreau (4x200-meter relay)

Job Kralik (100 meters)

Austin Wicker (200 meters)

J. Roulst, A. Accarino, A. Wicker, J. Kralik (4x100-meter relay)

Kyle Cox (shot put and discus)

While the girls finished atop the podium, their points came from second- and third-place finishes.

On Saturday, a select number of athletes from the Cruiser boys team loaded up and headed to Shelton for the 62nd annual Shelton Invitational.

The Cruisers were outgunned in the meet and placed 19th out of 39 teams.

One bright spot for the Cruisers was Kyle Cox, who set a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 4 inches, passing Cruiser alumni Chase DeMoor and Blake Sjoblom to move into third place on the Eatonville High School records list behind Lucas Hatton (second place – 54 feet, 8.75 inches) and former state champ Justin Kaelin (first place – 59 feet, 5 inches).
