Forum: Chamber appreciation, Bush reaction

The Eatonville Chamber of Commerce is an important institution for both businesses and residents of the town of Eatonville. The members of the Chamber would like to thank a few board members that have dedicated countless hours to help the Chamber be successful. Dawn Newkirk, Nancy Iams and Sylvia Korte have retired, and we want to thank them for their hard work and commitment to community involvement. During their tenure, an annual event calendar was set up with monthly events and activities to help businesses and residents. These are fun events that brought community spirit and togetherness. We appreciate all you have done. Enjoy your retirement. Jackie Sparrow Treasurer, Eatonville Chamber of Commerce

Here's a selection of comments made in the online edition of The Dispatch in response to "Bush was there to make progress,GÇ¥ a news feature about Pierce County Councilman Roger Bush's departure from office because of term limits and his look back at his time on the council and as a state representative: " Public service done right, indeed. Mr. Bush will be missed " I am glad he did his best. However, if we the people had a choice, I believe we would ask all people who have spent more than five years in any political seat to be banned from returning. Some are good, but as we see, in Governor Christine Gregoire's work, our taxes have increased, our "no" votes are overruled, and if we like it or not, our fuels and homes are taxed again and again. We the people need to stand up and rid our nation of political people who gain large sums of money in the government seats. So we the people can have our lives back as well as our dollars. Otherwise, we are slaves to the government's wants and needs.
