More than 180 entries, including colorful floats, bands, marching groups and mounted units, will wind through four cities during virtually all-day procession. One of the centerpieces will be a float carrying the festival royalty – a queen and 22 princesses chosen from the 23 high schools in Pierce County. They include princesses Sarah Llitzenberger of Eatonville High, Serena Bolden of Graham-Kapowsin High, and Brianna Bryant of Bethel High.
The float will be decorated with thousands of fresh-cut daffodils, a connection to the Puyallup Valley’s heritage as a daffodil grower dating back to the festival's beginning more than 80 years ago.
A parade has been heen held every year since 1934, except three years during World War II (1943-45).
The parade will start in Tacoma at 10:15 a.m., followed by Puyallup at 12:45 p.m., Sumner at 2:30 and Orting at 5.
Litzenberger, Bolden, Bryant and the rest of the festival's royal court represent their schools in festival events for the rest of this year.
Litzenberger's sister, Annelise Litzenberger, was Eatonville's princess in the 2013 festival.
