Eatonville and Bethel begin their post-season drives this week toward what they hope will take them to high school girls basketball state tournaments.
In the 2A West Central District playoffs that open Feb. 9, Eatonville and Port Angeles will square off in a first-round game at Wilson High in Tacoma at 6 p.m. The winner will have Renton – the team Eatonville finished second to in the South Puget Sound League’s Sound Division in the regular season – in a second-round contest Feb. 11 at Foss High in Tacoma. The loser between the Cruisers and Port Angeles will play in a loser-out affair at Wilson High again on Feb. 11.
Bethel will face Shelton Feb. 9 in an opening-round game of the 3A West Central-Southwest District high playoffs. The winner of the game that will start at 7:45 p.m. at Timberline High will advance to a second-round contest Feb. 11 against either Yelm or Mountain View, while the loser will play in a loser-out game Feb. 11.
At stake in the double-elimination district playoffs are spots in the regional tournaments – six for 2A field and five for 3A schools.
Bethel finished second in the Pierce County League during the regular season.
