'At our age,' it's better to help others

Friends gathered at Al and Nina Reiten's home for the Kapowsin High School Alumni annual Christmas party for committee members. Everyone enjoyed good food, much laughter, and a whole lot of talking.
Every year, everyone brings a $10 gift to be exchanged. This year, we decided that no one at our age needs anything, so we decided to bring a $10 bill to the party and we then collected $150 to donate to Graham Food Bank. Everyone was very happy to do this for our community.
After reading The Dispatch this week and noticing all of the clubs in town, I thought maybe some of them might like to do this, too. The Tree of Honor (Jan. 11, “Tree of Honor donations are a difference-maker”) is an awesome idea. I love the town of Eatonville where my husband was born and raised. We moved there in 1983 and lived there for 22 years while I taught school at Weyerhaeuser Elementary School. Go, Wildcats.
