Cruisers dominate Orting in rivalry games

The Cruiser baseball team had a great two-game series against Orting before dropping a game to Steilacoom on Friday, March 29.

Eatonville shut out the Cardinals in back-to-back games on Tuesday, March 26, and Wednesday, March 27. In the first game, they clipped the wings of the Cardinals with a score of 6-0. The next day they grounded the birds with a score of 10-0. They ended the week by falling 9-1 to Steilacoom. The Cruisers are now 6-4 on the season and 3-2 in SPSL 2A East league play.

Andrew Wiklund and Collin Blake combined a four-hit shutout of the Cardinals. Wiklund went six innings, giving up only three hits, walking three and striking out five to pick up the win. Blake went to the final inning giving up one hit and striking out one. He gained the final two outs when he got Orting’s hitter to ground into a game-ending double play.

Wiklund led the Cruisers at the plate going 4-4 with three doubles.

Three Cruiser pitchers combined to throw a three-hit shutout of the Cardinals. Jarod Humphrey got the start for the Cruisers. Humphrey gave up one hit, walked four and struck out one before handing the ball over to Collin Blake. Blake pitched four innings in relief, gave up one hit, walked two and struck out two. Zach Smith came in to pitch the final inning where he struck out the side.

At the plate for the Cruisers, Wiklund, Blake and Ryan Rogers all picked up three hits, while Smith and Humphrey each collected two hits.

Steilacoom breaks the cruisers' short winning streak

The Cruisers fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-1 loss to Steilacoom on Friday. Steilacoom kept the Cruisers off the board until the sixth inning when they were able to push across one run.

Jacob Lucht picked up the loss for the Cruisers. He gave up five runs on two hits, striking out one in three innings. Blain Hanley came in to take over in the fourth inning and limited the Sentinels to one run on three hits and struck out one. 

Ryan Rogers led the Cruisers at the plate. Rogers went 2-3 and drove in the Cruisers only run.
