Cornelia (Kate) Adriana Zylstra, 97, met her Lord on Monday, April 7, 2014. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.
Kate was born in Duvall, WA to Peter and Grace Van Biezen on January 19, 1917. On March 27, 1941, she married Herman Zylstra and they farmed and raised their family in the Duvall area. After Herman's passing in 1981, she lived in Monroe and later Lake Stevens.
She was a very active lifetime member of New Hope Fellowship (Monroe Christian Reformed Church). She loved to travel, garden, sew, paint, and bake cookies for her grandchildren. Her wise kindness has been a source of grace for her family and friends.
Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Zylstra; two brothers; one sister and her daughter, Linda Medcalf. Surviving her are sister, Grace (Art) DeGroot; children, Ruth (Randy) Britsch, Tom (Kate) Zylstra, Sigrid Brorson, Bonnie (Gary) Gossett, Betty Krygsheld, and Keith (Susie) Zylstra; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at New Hope Fellowship on Friday, April 11, 2014.
