Hoekstra brothers complete high academic honors




 
Jake Hoekstra has been awarded his PhD from the Department of Pathology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. His work involved the "Mitochondrial Dynamics of Parkinson's DiseaseGÇ¥. He has taken a postdoctoral position at UW to study mutations in the aging brain. Jake graduated as a valedictorian from Monroe High School in 2004, and attended UW where he received his BSc. (cum laude) in 2008.
Ben Hoekstra has been awarded his Juris Doctor from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego California. Ben is a 2006 graduate of Monroe High School. He attended the University of British Columbia where he received his BA in political science and Spanish studies in 2010. While attending law school he interned at the Snohomish County Prosecutor's office in Everett and the office of the public defender in San Diego. He is presently in San Diego where he continues to do Pro Bono work for the PD office while he prepares for the Bar Exam.
