Lois Mildred Dean (Hess, Schlotthauer) of Eureka, CA, was born in Okanogan, WA on October 17, 1917 to Archie and Dorothy Dean. She moved to Skykomish,WA in 1918 and lived there until she married Stanley Hess in 1936. They had three children. She married Reuben Schlotthauer in 1968 and was with him until his death in 2003.
She lived in the following cities and towns: Skykomish, WA; Startup, WA; Everett, WA; Eugene, OR; San Diego, CA; Crescent City, CA; Greeley, CO and Eureka, CA.
Lois loved bowling and gardening. She had many fond memories of visits to the San Diego Zoo with her grandchildren and to Guam and Japan to visit family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Dean.
She is survived by two sons: Dean Hess of Hillsboro, OR, Doug Hess of Eureka, CA and one daughter, Mary Ellen DeBoer of Murray, KY. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She died on November 17, 2017 in Eureka, CA, one month past her 100th birthday.
No memorial service is scheduled at this time.
