Monroe Bearcats get first win of 2013 season

After holding the Marauders to four downs following the opening kickoff, Monroe opened the scoring, driving 70 yards.-áGabe Moore scored from four yards out with 2:47 left in the quarter.
Mariner answered the Bearcat touchdown with one of their own in the second quarter as Joshua Williamson plunged in from the one-yard line. The point after attempt failed.


Gabe Moore increased the Bearcats lead moments later, taking the handoff from Andrew Zimmerman and dashing nine yards.-áThe point after attempt fell short.
As the half was winding down the Bearcat defense forced a fumble. The Bearcats took advantage of the miscue and Max Blois scored on a 63 yard run from scrimmage to put Monroe ahead, 19 GÇô 6 at halftime.
Monroe came out the second half and turned the ball over to the Marauders following the kickoff. Mariner running back Joshua Williamson scored six plays later on an eleven yard run from scrimmage.-áMariner had trouble with the point after kick and the score was 19 GÇô 12.
The Bearcats closed the third quarter as Andrew Zimmerman connected with Robbie Schab on a seven-yard pass. Schab juggled the ball several times but gained control as he crossed the goal line.
Mariner was able to mount one more scoring drive near the end of the fourth quarter and Dyonte Law scored on an end around play. Mariner attempted a two-point conversion but the pass play failed.
The Bearcats improved to 1 GÇô 2. They begin league play next week at home against Lake Stevens.
