PHOTO: Super Gavin suits up for duty


 

Snohomish County Sheriff's Office "Sheriff for the DayGÇ¥ Gavin "Super GavinGÇ¥ Mayes fully enjoyed his day spent behind the badge. Sheriff for the Day is part of a state program called Chief for a Day, which is meant to honor and celebrate kids who have been diagnosed with life-threatening or chronic illnesses. Gavin, who spent the last three years of his life beating Leukemia, was given an emotional support dog named Olive as a part of the honor. The Chief for a Day event took place on Thursday, Aug. 19 at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission in Burien, and included an official swearing in ceremony and other law enforcement-related activities. Gavin and his dad Ken were escorted to the event in a motorcade, and were driven by Snohomish County Sheriff Ty Trenary.
