Phyllis Jeffries (PJ)

Phyllis A. Jeffries, (PJ) aged 71, longtime resident of Monroe WA, passed away on Saturday November 18th 2017 at the Regency Care Center in Monroe after a courageous battle with cancer.

Phyllis was raised by her parents Steve and Bert Novak and later graduated from Sultan High School. She later married and moved to Monroe where she raised her children. She had a great passion for the outdoors and fishing. She spent many days on the river bank, near a lake or at one of her favorite places in the San Juan Islands. She always talked about the fresh seafood she enjoyed so much.

Phyllis worked for over 30 years with the Monroe School District, primarily at Salem Woods Elementary as a paraeducator.  She got great joy working with the children over the many years and their smiles and gestures of appreciate always brought a warm heart and huge smile to her.  Her greatest and lifelong friends were some of her co-workers whom she cherished and enjoyed frequent get-togethers with over the years.

Phyllis is survived by her sister Roxanne Bryson of Kitsap County and her three children, Tracy Jeffries of Kirkland, Tami Jeffries of Monroe and Sean Jeffries along with her only grandchild Rachel Jeffries of Ellensburg. Due to her wishes there will not be a formal service but her family can be contacted for a celebration of life gathering to be determined at a later date.
