Easter is early this year, falling on Sunday, March 31.
The Sky Valley presents numerous opportunities for kids to get out and have some fun hunting for Easter eggs, visiting the Easter Bunny and more.
Monroe Easter Egg Hunt
Monroe's annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place Saturday, March 30, the day before Easter. It starts at 9 a.m. sharp at Lake Tye Park and continues until 11 a.m., with different age groups taking to their separate sections of the field at different times.
Monroe's egg hunt is one of the largest in the region, and also one of the most eventful.
"The uniqueness of our event is that it is not merely an egg hunt, which typically starts and ends within 15 minutes," said Monroe Parks Department director Mike Farrell. "It is a larger community event with 20-plus community vendor booths, each sponsor not only providing a special treat or game for children, but also sharing with the community what their organization or business generally provides to the community."
The event draws about 2,000 people out to Lake Tye Park each year.
"It is an opportunity for neighbors, families and friends to spend a few hours at the park to catch up on news, events and also meet new people," said Farrell.
He himself has made friends at the Easter Egg Hunt, he said.
His toddler and another toddler made friends, and their families keep in touch to this day, he said.
Monroe Eagles Easter Egg Hunt
The Monroe Eagles will have an Easter Egg hunt open to the public at Frank Wagner Elementary on Easter Sunday. The hunt will begin at 1 p.m. Bring your own basket to collect eggs, and organizers advise arriving a little early.
Sultan Easter Egg Hunt
The Sultan Easter Egg Hunt is planned for Saturday, March 30, and will take place at River Park, 100 First St. starting at 11 a.m. There will be street games, face painting and arts and crafts, and local business will have information booths.
At 11:15, the Fire Department will deliver the Easter Bunny to the park for photos and visits.
The fields are divided up by age group, and the hunts will begin starting at noon.
All the plastic eggs will be collected and recycled for next year.
The Chamber of Commerce is accepting donations of candy and plastic eggs; bring them to the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Information Center up until March 20.

Gold Bar Easter Egg Hunt
Ambitious egg hunters will be able to participate in hunts in both Sultan and Gold Bar, as Gold Bar kicks off its annual hunt at 9 a.m. at the Gold Bar Elementary School grounds.
Raffle tickets will be sold starting at 9 a.m., and the hunt itself, sponsored by the Gold Bar Red Hats, starts at 9:30.
There are three fields for three different age groups. Kids turn in the eggs in exchange for candy at the end of the hunt. Bring your own basket.
Children ages toddler through 12 are welcome to hunt eggs.
