Eatonville council passes utilities policy

At its July 27 meeting, the Eatonville Town Council passed Resolution 2020-M, emergency policy and procedures for the collection and enforcement of utility bills during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

On Feb. 29, Gov. Jay Inslee issued a state of emergency proclamation that strongly encouraged all utilities to take reasonable actions to mitigate economic impacts of the pandemic on their customers, including, but not limited to, acting to prevent disconnection of services due to non-payment, waiving late payments and fees, and using payment plans to fulfill outstanding customer balances.

“So, this just gets us up to date with the current law and gets us kind of squared away where everything in our policy is up to date,” Mayor Mike Schaub said.
