The Eatonville Town Council on June 8 authorized the execution of an interagency agreement with the state Department of Commerce for CARES Act funding the town is eligible for in the amount of up to $89,000.
Earlier this year, Congress passed the Coronavirus, Relief and Economic Security Act providing more than $2 trillion in funding to combat the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Washington state will receive an estimated $2.95 billion to help state and local governments fight the illness.
Eatonville, as a sub-recipient of federal dollars, must work with the state to move forward on the funds being distributed.
While the pandemic has not had a major impact in Eatonville, any money received could go to deferring some coronavirus-related expenditures related to law enforcement and personal protective equipment.
