Cruiser boys soccer picks up first win of the season

The Eatonville Cruisers picked up their first win of the season, March 30, when they defeated the Hoquiam Grizzlies 3-2 in overtime. Nicholas Holder scored the Cruisers’ first goal. The Grizzlies then scored the equalizer to tie it up at 1. Eatonville answered with a set play goal from the corner from Sebastian Montes De Oca Molina to Riley Rockey for the goal. Hoquiam answered with a goal of their own from a penalty kick to tie it 2-2. Montes De Oca Molina finished with the winning goal roughly two minutes into the overtime period.

Kevin Tomyn had an assist in the match, and Nathaniel Good had seven-plus saves in goal.

"The whole defense was solid, with many stops by Riley Rockey, Ayden Lilly, Victor Pena and Ryan Hatch," head coach Clint Tomyn said.

Earlier in the week, the Montesano Bulldogs defeated the Cruisers, 6-3.

Kevin Tomyn found the back of the net twice with assists from Kodiak Hoskins and Nathaniel Goode. Rockey also scored for the Cruisers off a throw-in from Tomyn.

Josiah Goode, Lilly, Goode and Pena contributed with multiple stops to help keep Eatonville in the game.

The Cruisers finished the week traveling to Forks and were defeated by the Spartans, 6-3.
