By Harrison Crawford Contributing writer Tucked away in a tranquil grove in Eatonville, the Van Eaton Garden played host to a festive scene not unlike the famous Renaissance. Inside the natural beauty of the garden, the Art in Bloom festival hummed away. In its debut run, the art festival July 11-12 aimed-áto help improve the living conditions of so many in need, while allowing those more fortunate to enjoy some of the finest art that Eatonville has to offer. All of the proceeds went to the food bank operated by Eatonville Family Agency. At the heart of the bazaar, Diane Mettler shed light on where it all came from. A longtime supporter of the food bank, Mettler decided to go through with her wishes when she attended a dinner put on by the Family Agency. Appalled by the need in her community, she and her husband, Chris Bivins, worked together to organize Art in Bloom. The evening garden party July 11 was followed the next day by displays by local artisans. Merging canvas and compassion, organizers and supporters hope the event will be one that stays around for years to come.
