New Year's fun for kids and adults

Here are a few of the local New Year's celebrations taking place in Monroe.
Event: East Coast New Year's Celebration at the Sky Valley Senior Center
Description: This is a family-friendly event open to the entire community! No membership is necessary to join in the celebration; all are welcome to attend.
The festivities will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at the Sky Valley Senior and Community Center. VOA Kitchen Coordinator Ann Marie Bunch and Chef Don Langhans will be preparing gourmet, made-from-scratch hors d'oeuvres and the event will include a sparkling cider toast.
Location: The Sky Valley Senior Center is located in the A-frame at 617 First St. in Sultan.
Event: Celebrate New Year's Eve at Adam's Northwest Bistro and Brewery in Monroe
Description: Chef Adam Hoffman invites you to bring in the New Year at Adam's Bistro located in Monroe. Reservations are required, so guests are invited to secure their spots now for a special four-course, made-from-scratch meal, live music and more. The menu includes seared scallops with smoked bacon, braised beef short rib, smoked poultry consomm+¬ and much more. The meal will be available from 4 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and a wine pairing will also be available.
Items off Adam's regular menu will also be available.

Event: New Year's Eve Murder Mystery Overnight event at the First Baptist Church in Monroe
Description: This is a free event for high school and middle school aged kids between 6th and 12th grade. The festivities will begin at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31 and will continue until 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1. Activities will include movies, a murder mystery, board games, a glow-in-the-dark Nerf war, hide "n seek, food and much more. Guests are encouraged to bring pajamas, a sleeping bag and a flashlight, along with their favorite board game.
